A Cascade of Petunias

Kia Ora and Welcome Back

Today is Inspiration Wednesday and I would like to share with you a creation that I have been thinking about for some time but couldn’t figure out how to make it work.  I decided to go ahead with it and see how it went and I was able to finish it with the help of my work colleague Beth Perry.  She gave me the idea of using an ice block stick to make the cup float over the saucer.  It worked perfectly!

Paint the canvas with the Vintage paint.  Cut a piece of patterned paper 7” x 7” and adhere to the canvas.  Cut another panel 6” x 6” and adhere to the canvas and seal with the decoupage adhesive.

Cut the cup and saucer using the SVG out of the Centura Pearl cardstock.  Cut the decorative pieces from the Classic Petunia Paper Collection and adhere to the cup and saucer.  Seal with the decoupage glue.  Adhere the saucer to the canvas with Dries Clear glue.  To create the floating cup partially break an iceblock stick in three and strengthen the breaks with the hot glue.  Adhere the top of the stick to the inside of the cup and the bottom to the saucer using the hot glue.

Perfect for celebrating an array of occasions, this fun loving assembling of stamps, dies and decorative papers will bring a whimsical and lighthearted touch to all of your paper crafting creations. The dynamic paper collection boasts a color palette filled with beautiful tones of burnt oranges, rusty reds, midnight blues, along with leaf like greens and golden yellows all mixed with checkered plaids, decorative stripes and gorgeous imagery of blooming sunflowers and falling leaves. Three sets of detailed cling stamps with coordinating dies allow you to join in the fall themed fun of a charismatic bear family enjoying their last retreat before winter sets in. Whether sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows near an adorable treehouse, enjoying songs strummed out quietly on guitar, or filling up on delightful meals of honey, these cute images are ideal for embellishing all of your fall themed cards and scrapbook layouts! So throw on a cozy sweater, grab a cup of hot cocoa and join in the fun as we enjoy one last “beary” fun filled autumn retreat!

For my project I have used one of the new shadow boxes and created a picnic scene.  I must admit it did seem strange to be doing autumn colours when we are in winter here and just going into spring, but I loved using these colours.  They are so warm and cosy!

Pink Sunrise Lilies

Kia Ora and Welcome Back

Today I am featuring something a little different from my usual cards.  I have been inspired by John Lockwood and his amazing creations.  Please visit his website here for the instructions on how to make this hexagonal frame here: http://johnnextdoor.blogspot.co.nz/2014/05/what-difference-year-makes.html?spref=pi

I have made the lilies using the Heartfelt Creations Sunrise Lily stamps and dies on foamiran.  I was happy with how the flowers turned out but foamiran is still a work in progress for me.

For the base of this I have used Sizzix hexagonal dies rather than measuring out the hexagons as John as done.  I embossed the smaller die and then cut the hexagon with the larger die.  I have still cut the tabs etc the same as what John has done but I thought this was a quicker and easier way of doing the base and it worked perfectly for me.  However, it is really important when cutting out the larger die size to measure with your ruler to make sure the edges are even to allow the base to sit evenly.

Have a good week – don’t forget to check in on Wednesday for the exciting release of the new Beary Fun Retreat Collection from Heartfelt Creations!
