About Me

Hi my name is Patricia Manhire and I live in Lower Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand.  I have always done some sort of crafts since I was a child.  I come from an artistic and creative family.  My grandmother won a scholarship for her art but was unable to take it up and she taught me a lot of crafts such as crochet, needlework and tatting.  My mother did a lot of crafts from knitting, sewing, macrame, to leatherwork,  My father does wood turning and makes some beautiful handcrafted toys.  My sister also does a lot of crafts including knitting, sewing and embroidery.
I discovered cardmaking nearly twenty years ago when I went to Spotlight and discovered stamping and embossing.  In those days there was no embossing or diecutting machines and all the stamps were on wood.  We used a lot of corrugated card and raffia if I remember rightly, and coloured in with colour pencils that the children used.  Now there is so many more products on the market and we are not using children’s toys anymore.  I now use mostly Heartfelt Creations products which I only discovered about 2 years ago.
I am mainly a cardmaker, but I have done scrapbooking as well along with making 3D projects using my Cricut Explore.  I love making dimensional flowers, in particular using vellum, and I can’t understand why men don’t like flowers on their cards!  Heartfelt Creations do think of everything and their Cut Mat Create system of dies has added so much more dimension to my cards and I must admit to going through a lot of foam tape.
I own and operate Gift Hutt in Lower Hutt, New Zealand where I sell locally made arts and crafts along with Heartfelt Creations products, Spellbinders dies and coordinating inks and glitter etc.  I run monthly flower making classes and plan on doing more cardmaking classes using the cardmaking kits from Heartfelt Creations.

Happy Crafting
Patricia

    Hi Patricia,
Thanks for following my blog. Yours is absolutely beautiful and I love the pictures you take! May I ask which camera you are using? We share the same interest: crafting and I find your efforts truly inspiring in spite of your illness. I hope you’ll get well soon and I look forward to reading more about what you do. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much for the kind comments. The camera I use is a Fujifilm S-X1. It is a bridge camera but still takes great photos and has almost as much flexibility as a DSLR.
I will look forward to reading about all your crafty endeavours as well. You have a good day.

  2. Hi Patricia,

So happy to have found your blog. Your photographs and ideas are fabulous! I too was a CM consultant over 10 yrs ago. Still have a lot of stuff which I absolutely love.
Recently, I started tackling boxes of photos and have decided to start scrapbooking again – nothing crazy, just to finish up some albums for my boys.
Overwhelmed, I found your blog and have been inspired to begin again. Thanks! ~maria

Hi Patricia, I am a close to my Heart consultant in the USA, is it ok to use one of your designs to show what can be done? I was looking at the la vie en Rose one in particular. Thank you. Laurie
